Popular deals website Groupon is at the centre of a fake goods scandal after an investigation revealed sellers flogging dodgy designer gear and jewellery.
A probe by the BBC ’s Watchdog programme found a set of gold sapphire earrings said to be worth £300 but knocked down by a staggering 95% were no more than costume jewellery.
For experts from hallmark specialists The London Assay Office found they were worthless as the metal contained no gold and the gems were also fake.

The Task Team reacted swiftly after receiving information from a reliable source that a white Ford Ranger is transporting liquor which is illicit.
